Goodbye Sydney Harbour Control Tower

Located in The Rocks district of Sydney, near Barangaroo Reserve, the 87 metres tall Sydney Harbour Control Tower was constructed in 1974 to direct shipping in the Harbour.

It was decommissioned in 2011 and demolition of the Tower is planned to begin in March 2016, so I shot these images of the iconic tower just in time.

In a few months it will be gone!

The tower is still there – but as this new shot from Sydney Observatory shows, a scaffolding has now been built around the lower section, so I guess the end is getting near:
